HISTORY
Huge thanks to Douglas d'Enno - author of 'The Saltdean Story' for his kind permission to use illustrations and photographs for this section on Saltdean in the past. Without his permission to use photo's and material this section of the website would not have been possible. You may be interested to know that he is currently working on a follow up to 'The Saltdean Story' - 'Saltdean Revisited'. More news on this later in the year.

Thanks also to all those who took the time to constribute, in particular Chris Wrapson.

Douglas d’Enno

Douglas d'Enno has written highly successful books on our local area. 'The Saltdean Story' chronicles Saltdean from its pre-history (early burials and Roman finds) to modern times, taking in stories of smugglers, misadventures at sea and the community's development as a resort. It naturally covers the Ocean Hotel (before, during and after Billy Butlin's reign) and the birth and development of the Residents' Association up to its Golden Jubilee in 1984. He is currently working on a sequel.. He is always looking for interesting stories and photos of our local area. Tel: 882757 email: doug@denno.org.uk
