LOCAL POLITICS

Saltdean is both united and divided on the political front. The boundary between East and West Saltdean runs through Longridge Avenue and divides Saltdean between Brighton & Hove & Lewes Councils. However it is part of the Brighton Kemp Town Constituency in national elections.

Brighton Kemptown Des Turner MP For this, East and West Saltdean are united. Our MP since 1997 has been Des Turner. Brighton Kemptown constituency also takes in part of the Peacehaven, Saltdean and Telscombe Cliffs areas.

Brighton & Hove Council - Rottingdean Coastal

The full Council meeting, made up of seventy eight elected councillors the supreme decision-making body. In March each year it sets the council's budget and then meets regularly throughout the year to consider recommendations from committees, scrutiny boards and other forums and receive questions, deputations and petitions. The Mayor presides over Council meetings, which are held in public.

Lewes District Council - East Saltdean & Telscombe Ward

Wheras West Saltdean is a ward of Brighton and Hove Council, East Saltdean is part of Lewes District Council of which we have two local representatives. There are 26 wards in the Borough and each ward is represented by 3 Councillors. Elections to the Council currently take place every 4 years
