SORT - Saltdean Oval Regeneration Team

to all of the SORT team for working hard to achieve their
objecyive of improving the Oval park.

Report from the AGM November 7th 2003
The Supernova has been installed in the Oval and the Vega
which young children can hold onto and spin. The council
have kindly paid for installation of these pieces of equipment
and the Sort have paid for them. Many thanks to Rob Dumbrill
from the council for very kindly arranging the installation.
Sheltered seating and a table tennis table have also been
installed. The council have also repainted the bottom half
of the fence. A skate park is still under debate with as
yet no parents coming forward to support the idea. SORT
need community support for this idea before going ahead
with it.
SORT have been working closely with PARC with the charity
ship on Rottingdean greatly helping to raise funds.
They have also been working closely with the SLAT youth
initiative group to consider lighting in the park.
To date SORT have raised over £18,000 to which they
must have been very proud - well done SORT!

Lovely Sort Ladies parading their stuff down at the Oval
Gala Day on July 13th........
- Jumble Sale & Light up in the Park
There will be a lighting up the park event on Saturday
6th April from 6.00 pm. The event is to raise awareness
of the need for more light in the park. There will be workshops
to make lanterns and you are asked to bring a torch to the
event. There will be more information to follow.

Improvements to Saltdean playground
Brighton & Hove City Council are working with a local
community group to brighten up the play area in the Saltdean
Oval. With materials supplied by the council, the Saltdean
Oval Regeneration Team will be painting the play equipment
and fence on the first Saturday of every month - except
when it's raining. Volunteers are invited to come along
and help with the work at 1 pm
The Saltdean Residents Association has kindly donated £500
to SORT for lighting in the park, as a part of our commemoration
of the Queens Golden Jubilee.
