THE U3A _ WHO AE THEY (KINDLY DONATED BY VIC STUBBINS)

What is the U3A? Who are the U3A?
That is what people often say.
University of the Third Age I reply,
They give a grin and raise an eye.

What does it do? What is it for?
I've never heard of it before.
Well I'm not good at making things plain,
But I'm willing to sit to try to explain.

We do History of Sussex and also of Art,
Scrabble and Walks if you want to take part,
The Discussions Group fine, Opera group too,
You can join any of these, it's up to you.

You could join the book group, We read and review,
If Poetry's your thing there's a group for this too,
A travel group meets to talk and show slides,
Not just in the UK but the whole of worldwide.

There's bridge, lunch outings, Origami as well,
Talks about Science, Groups too many to tell,
All this I tell them and very much more
Is the U3A that's what it's for.

It helps keep you active and using your brain,
To meet other folks with outlooks the same,
So come on and join, then you'll be able to see
What the U3A's about and if it's your cup of tea.
